Beneath: Deep Sea Horror and Survival in the Shadows
A new horror shooter is rising from the ocean depths. Beneath is being developed by indie studio Camel 101 and published by Wired Productions, and it is already turning heads with its mix of Lovecraftian dread, resource scarcity, and tense combat in a single player campaign.

The story follows Noah Quinn, a veteran diver whose expedition goes terribly wrong. Trapped in the abyss, he faces grotesque mutations, creeping madness, and an ancient evil that threatens much more than just his own survival. The game promises a campaign of over ten hours where every bullet and every breath of oxygen counts.

A demo on Steam already shows what players can expect. The mood is heavy, with design influences from titles like F.E.A.R., Soma, and Outlast. Enemies use adaptive behavior, forcing you to switch tactics and avoid relying on brute force. Survival means balancing scarce ammunition with precious oxygen, and sometimes hiding in the shadows is wiser than pulling the trigger.

One of the most striking choices is the commitment to a pure solo experience. There are no online modes or microtransactions. The focus is entirely on a crafted story and atmosphere where the player is alone with the unknown.

Visually, the environments are dense with tension. Murky underwater corridors, sunken wrecks, and submerged ruins all carry an oppressive weight. The sea itself becomes an enemy, with its darkness, crushing pressure, and constant sense of isolation.

The release is planned for 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If the full game delivers the same sense of dread and scarcity shown in the demo, it may stand among the most memorable horror shooters of the generation. Beneath is shaping up to be a descent worth taking, provided you are brave enough to step into the deep.
