Borderlands 4 Officially Launches with Bigger World and New Vault Hunters

The wait is over. Borderlands 4 has officially launched as of September 12 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow on October 3 2025 (source: GamesRadar).
This entry in the long running looter shooter franchise takes players to the new planet Kairos, which features a seamless open world with dynamic weather systems, fewer loading interruptions, and larger playable zones than any previous Borderlands game (source: GamesRadar).

Players can choose from four brand new Vault Hunters — Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe — each with unique skill trees and special abilities. Cooperative play remains at the heart of the experience, with full cross play support, four player online co op, and split screen options for consoles (source: GamesRadar).
Gearbox has also issued a performance warning for PC players. Borderlands 4 is a demanding game and requires at least an 8 core CPU, an RTX 2070 or RX 5700 XT, and about 100 GB of free storage space to run smoothly. A day one patch has been deployed to improve performance across systems (source: Windows Central).
